AN OUROBOROS Acrylic, pen, graphite powder, and paper on wood panel, 16 x 16 inches

In this piece, the circular form is an abstraction of an Ouroboros - a symbol commonly associated with unity and the infinite. My interpretation of this symbol, of the snake eating its own tail, is about the cycles we all get caught in, the negative habit loops - about how we gnaw away at ourselves. The sliver dividing the circular form into two represents a break in one of these cycles, the small gap the snake can slither into to escape itself, to find respite from its own fangs.
